IPS Interactive Packaging- Printing 2D barcodes onto round pots

With the rise of interactive marketing more and more companies are taking advantage of the benefits 2D barcodes bring, allowing consumers to access promotional materials related to their products or company.
Once a barcode has been created it is easy to adapt or change the content that it links to, allowing companies to adapt content to their customers’ needs and ensure that they provide up-to-date information. 2D barcodes can also provide companies with invaluable market research data relating to their customer base such as user criteria, time and location when barcodes are scanned.
It is not surprising then that because of our high quality, accurate printing, IPS was recently chosen to print a 2D barcode onto plastic pots by one of the UK’s leading horticultural packaging suppliers.
IPSOur design and development department was faced with the challenge of separating the design and producing precise, laser engraved plates that could print the intricate pattern of the barcode consistently and with the high precision and clarity required to make the 2D barcodes scannable.
IPS has always been at the forefront of innovation in packaging and packaging decoration so this project marked an important achievement for us, proving that our dry offset print process can adapt to the changing needs of our customers and the retail marketplace.
